March 8th marks International Women’s Day – a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. What better way to celebrate the ambition and achievements of some of the world’s most powerful and admirable female entrepreneurs.

Kiran Mazumdar–Shaw

Kiran is an Indian entrepreneur, chairman and managing director of Biocon Limited – a biotech company and one of India’s largest publicly traded biopharmaceutical companies, and currently chairing IIM-Bangalore. Kiran has been awarded numerous times for her outstanding contributions to the science and medical fields. In 2015, she was named one of the top 50 women in business by the Financial Times, and 85th on the list of the world’s most powerful women.

Weili Dai

Weili is the president and co-founder of Marvell Technology Group; she is also the only female co-founder of a major semiconductor company. Founded in 1995, Dai spearheaded the rise of the company to become of the top semiconductor companies in the world. Dai has received tremendous support for her contributions to the business world. Forbes named Dai one of the Most Powerful Women in 2014. Shortly afterwards, Dai was awarded the “Best Women Professional of the Year” at the Golden Bridge Awards. Dai also actively supports women and STEM.

Carolyn Rodz

Empowering other women has always been a goal of Carolyn’s. Carolyn has successfully raised billions of dollars of capital for innovative organizations, created a retail line sold in some of North America’s biggest retailers, successfully started a global marketing firm and has recently launched Circular Board – an organization aimed at supporting women in business around the world through mentorship, content, communication and capital. Carolyn is a great advocate for women entrepreneurs – she is extremely committed to closing the gender gap prevalent in the startup environment.

Arianna Huffington

In 2005 Arianna launched the Huffington Post – one of the most widely-read media brands on the Internet. Arianna is currently the co-founder, president and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group, and author of fifteen books. Arianna has been named one of the world’s 100 most influential people and the Forbes Most Powerful Women list. She has long been an advocate for maintaining a balanced lifestyle and creating a culture of work/life balance within her companies.

On March 8th, we celebrate the exceptional work and achievements of the women in our lives. These women are just a few of the large number making a difference through entrepreneurship. Every woman has the opportunity to be a role model.

Happy International Women’s Day to all of our female entrepreneurs!
