Leap Group Inc, Sudbury’s latest upstart technology investment company, is pleased to announce its recent purchase of Metal Networks LLC.

 

Leap, with headquarters in Sudbury, Ontario and offices in Toronto, Ontario and Austin, Texas is a cloud based technology company that develops sales and productivity enablement software for the purchase and sale of plate, structural and tubular steel products.

 

The metals industry in North America, valued at $220 billion annually, still runs primarily on old technology to produce quotations, process orders, and manage the sales and bid pipeline. In addition, very few in the industry have ecommerce capabilities that allows buyers and sellers to transact seamlessly online. There is a large untapped need to migrate to cloud-based technology cost effectively without replacing existing systems or making big technology investments. The software platform is custom designed and purpose-built for the metals industry which allows purchasers and sellers of metals products to quickly and easily transact with multiple customers and vendors cost effectively.

Joe Graci, of Toronto, a technology distribution veteran joined forces with Jeff Fuller, a Northern Ontario Entrepreneur with deep experience in steel purchasing, sales and manufacturing. The two recognized the needs in the market, formed Leap Group and subsequently purchased Metal Networks, the only technology start up squarely in this space.

 

As both a purchaser and seller of steel pipe on the international market, Fuller’s frustration with the lack of fast and efficient access to metals suppliers precipitated a move to purchase Metal Networks thereby providing thousands of buyers and sellers with cost effective technology that significantly streamlines business operations Graci, with his technology background and channel sales experience understands how to build and integrate the technology for channel partners, suppliers, and buyers. Graci comments, “The demand for web-based technologies across all industrial sectors has buyers demanding an experience similar to their “consumer life.”

 

Metal Networks was founded by and will be led in the USA by Jeremy Chapman. Chapman and his team have built and implemented the technology at some of the largest steel suppliers in North America.
