(SUDBURY, ON) – NORCAT, a global leader in the development and provision of skilled labour and development services, is pleased to announce the appointment of Roy Slack and Randal Froebelius to its Board of Directors.
Roy Slack brings extensive engineering and technology experience to NORCAT’s Board. Currently the President of Cementation Canada Inc. and Incoming President Elect of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy & Petroleum (CIM), he is a professional engineer with over thirty five years of experience in mine construction, design and development projects throughout North America and worldwide. In 1988, Roy started Cementation’s operations in North America, growing the company into one of the largest mining contracting organizations in the world as part of The Cementation Group. In 2017, the company was recognized as a Gold Winner of Safest Employer in Canada in the natural resources sector. Roy holds a degree in Mining Engineering from Queen’s University, and throughout his career has been recognized as an industry leader with awards from the Professionals Engineers of Ontario, Metal Mining Society and Rotary International, as well as an Honorary Doctorate from Nipissing University.
Randal Froebelius brings significant experience to NORCAT’s Board in the development, construction, leasing and management of real estate. He currently serves as Vice-President of Real Estate for MaRS Discovery District, having been involved with the innovation hub since its initial construction in 2006. Prior to joining MaRS, Randal was responsible for all property management and leasehold construction activities associated with the Kolter Property Company’s six million square foot portfolio of assets in Toronto and Dallas, after holding project management and senior management roles at both Bramalea and Beutel Goodman Real Estate Group. In 2015, Randal was elected Chair of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Canada, previously having served as Chair of BOMA Toronto. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Science from the University of Western Ontario and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business, Randal is a licensed professional engineer in the province of Ontario and is currently enrolled in the Global Professional Master of Laws program at the University of Toronto.
