1) Do delivery vehicle drivers require NORCAT Indoctrination Training?
All contractors entering company property are required to contact their company contact person regarding what training is required.

  2) When is General Orientation Training available?
General Orientation Training is available Monday to Friday with bookings available at 9:00 am, 10:30 am and 1:00 pm. General Orientation Training is approximately 2 hours long and registration should be received 48 working hours before the desired training date.

3) When is Underground Orientation Training available?
Underground Orientation Training is available in 2 segments. The first being the theory which is available Monday to Friday at 9:00 am, 10:30 am and 1:00 pm. The second segment is the practical, which is available only on Tuesday starting at 7:45 am at NORCAT's Onaping mine site. Underground Orientation Training is approximately 2 hours long for the theory and approximately 4 hours for the practical. Clients who can show that appropriate Common Core is registered with the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities (MTCU), will be exempt from taking the practical portion.

4) Can anyone, even if not working for a company, register for training?
Yes. Anyone can participate in the surface or underground orientation training and receive a valid pass.

5) If a worker has completed the General Orientation training and later is required to go underground, is he/she required to retake the general orientation?
No. Only the Underground Orientation needs to be completed. A joint surface/underground pass will be issued.

6) If a worker has a General Orientation pass, is he/she required to retake General Orientation training in order to receive an INCO pass?
No. As long as the training is still valid, no retraining is required. The hiring company will verify to NORCAT that he/she works for them and they will then be printed a General Orientation Card with an INCO designation.

7) What are the contractor requirements for a NORCAT pass to INCO or Falconbridge property?

    SURFACE WORK ONLY
    • Proof of valid WHMIS training
    • General Orientation by NORCAT (valid for two years)

    UNDERGROUND WORK
    • Proof of valid WHMIS training
    • General Orientation by NORCAT (valid for two years)
    • Underground Orientation by NORCAT (valid for two years)
    • Proof of Government Common Core Training (MTCU Transcript displaying Program 770010, 770025, or 770150)
      or a half day of practical training at NORCAT's mine.
