An Important Update to the NORCAT Community about COVID-19

To our NORCAT Customers, Clients and Community,

I wanted to provide you an important update on NORCAT’s management plan during the COVID-19 crisis that we all are collectively dealing with. Please keep in mind, we are working in unchartered waters and our plan will evolve / pivot as new information comes to light. At this stage, the NORCAT Leadership Team is meeting on a daily basis to ensure we continue to operate a safe workplace to protect the health of employees, customers, and visitors and to ensure the continuity of our business operations. We are currently open for business, but understandably operating under enhanced health and safety parameters.

We are monitoring information and adhering to instructions from Public Health Sudbury & District, the Public Health Agency of Canada, and the World Health Organization on an on-going basis to ensure we are in tune with the latest information / guidance and responding appropriately. In addition, we have connected with various peer organizations, government officials, customers, staff, suppliers, among others to understand key decisions and concerns that may impact and / or influence our business and future operations. Given our culture and experience as an organization rooted in health and safety / industrial hygiene, I am exceptionally proud of how well everyone is managing and handling this situation at NORCAT.

As our employees interact with customers and the general public, we have taken significant steps to minimize all risks associated with exposure to the virus. We have cancelled all travel, are postponing NORCAT-hosted events, and continuing to reinforce safe behaviour in our training and development programs across all NORCAT offices globally. This includes, but is not limited to, having employees work from home where possible, social distancing within our organization, re-configuring classrooms, reducing the number of students per class, and enhanced cleaning and disinfecting of our facilities, equipment, and personnel hygiene. As part of this, we have fully implemented policies and protocols that have increased deep cleaning of all NORCAT facilities and disinfection procedures of all high-volume touchpoints throughout our facilities, including registration desks, surface areas, handrails, washrooms, door handles, microphones, etc.

We are in continuous communication with our employees to remind them about the importance of managing their personal hygiene and reminding our clients, partners, and community stakeholders of managing their health and safety during this time. Please note, if would-be or existing trainees are experiencing any symptoms associated with COVID-19, we will reschedule for a time that works with his / her availability.

Thank you for your understanding and continued trust as we manage through this time together. As you can imagine, this is a very fluid situation and NORCAT urges everyone to follow the guidelines and protocols put forth by public health officials to keep our workplaces, families, and communities safe and healthy.

Regards,

Don Duval | CEO NORCAT | dduval@norcat.org
