Job Position: NORCAT Innovation – Program Lead, Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative (RAII)

Location: Sudbury

Duration: Contract

Salary: $55,000-$65,000

About NORCAT Innovation:

As Sudbury’s Regional Innovation Centre, NORCAT Innovation is focused on supporting early-stage tech startups and the people founding them. We help by providing access to key resources and connections to the networks they need to start, grow and scale their ventures.

NORCAT Innovation – Program Lead, Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative (RAII): This is a full-time, contract position. The expected end date is March 31, 2027, with the possibility of an extension.

NORCAT Innovation is seeking a dynamic, proactive professional to lead our Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative (RAII). As Program Lead, reporting to the Manager, NORCAT Innovation, you will drive innovation by coordinating grant placements, providing local startups with AI-specific advisory services, and engaging regional stakeholders through impactful events and outreach.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Management and Coordination:

  • Lead the development, coordination, and reporting for NORCAT’s Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative (RAII) to foster regional AI innovation.

Business and Advisory Engagement:

  • Collaborate with local businesses to identify opportunities for AI adoption, connecting them to grants, funding sources, and advisory resources.
  • Coordinate advisory services by engaging industry experts to support businesses in adopting and implementing AI solutions.
  • Support startups in the testing and validation of their technologies, ensuring effective progression towards commercialization and adoption.
Event Planning and Execution:

  • Plan, organize, and execute virtual and in-person events, including workshops, webinars, seminars, and conferences, to promote AI awareness and facilitate knowledge-sharing.
Relationship and Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with government bodies, academic institutions, industry leaders, and AI professionals to strengthen the regional innovation ecosystem.
  • Represent NORCAT at regional and industry events, conferences, and networking meetings.

Market and Trend Analysis:

  • Monitor AI trends, industry developments, and market demands to ensure NORCAT’s initiatives remain relevant, impactful, and aligned with current industry needs.

Northern Regional Innovation Centre Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other Regional Innovation Centres in Northern Ontario to organize annual knowledge conferences and showcase events.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Other duties as required

Location: Greater Sudbury, Ontario, with occasional travel within Northern Ontario and across Canada as required.

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and celebrate that day one will never look like day two at NORCAT
  • Degree or diploma in a relevant field (Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Business Management).
  • Prior experience in the field of Artificial Intelligence is required.
  • Prior experience in program coordination, client support, or project management preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM tools, and data management systems.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills – it can get very busy at NORCAT, given the continued growth in our start-up tech portfolio and our evolving array of programs and services we develop and offer.
  • Strong ability to navigate, comprehend, and get excited by emerging technologies.
  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Experience in an entrepreneurial / business environment.
  • Valid driver's license and willing to travel within the City of Greater Sudbury.
